The short version
- Fast Capital covers $5,000 to $1 million as a loan, overdraft, credit card or asset finance.
- Only directors of New Zealand limited companies can apply. Sole traders, partnerships and trusts can't.
- Your business needs Xero or MYOB with at least 12 months of up-to-date accounts.
- Kiwibank emails you a decision within five minutes.
Is Kiwibank Fast Capital right for your business?
Fast Capital suits a limited company with at least a year of tidy accounts in Xero or MYOB that wants a quick decision from a bank. Kiwibank takes your figures straight from your accounting software, so there's little to fill in. You don't have to bank with Kiwibank to apply. If you're a sole trader, look at BNZ's QuickBiz instead. For new businesses, Kiwibank has a separate StartUp+ offer.

Talk to a business loan brokerHow the decision works
After you apply, Kiwibank's system works through your accounting data and emails you a decision within five minutes. If you're approved, or Kiwibank needs more information, it gets in touch to agree which kind of borrowing suits your business. Kiwibank aims to give you the money within a few business days, though it can take longer if you're new to the bank.
What Fast Capital costs
Kiwibank sets your rate based on your situation and the security you provide, and doesn't publish it. The application fee for a loan starts at $25. If your loan runs for more than three years and you pay it all off within three years of drawing it, there's a $250 early exit fee. Fixed rate loans may also have break costs.
StartUp+ for new businesses
StartUp+ is Kiwibank's lending for early-stage businesses with an innovative product or service. StartUp+ is for businesses that have traded with customers for less than 24 months or are still in early growth. You'll need to show demand for what you sell and have a place in an accelerator or incubator, or past experience growing a business. The first loan can be up to $150,000 without using your personal assets as security, and you can borrow more as you reach milestones. The process starts with an expression of interest.
How Kiwibank compares
BNZ's QuickBiz also needs 12 months of accounts but takes sole traders, for up to $100,000. ANZ's goBiz needs more than 2 years of trading and lends up to $500,000 online. Online lenders like Prospa don't need a year of accounts, but they cost more.
These details come from Kiwibank's website, checked on 6 November 2026.
