## The short version

- FundTap pays you up to 90% of an unpaid invoice now, and you pay it back when your customer pays.
- You pay one fee per invoice, from 4%. There are no establishment, monthly or break fees.
- Your business must be trading in New Zealand or Australia and invoicing customers on terms. One invoice is enough to start.
- Approval usually takes a day, and once you're approved the money arrives within 2 hours.

## Is FundTap a good option for your business?

FundTap works well if your business has cash tied up in unpaid invoices. You've finished the job and sent the bill, but your customer won't pay until the 20th of next month or in 30 days. FundTap pays you most of that invoice now, and you pay it back when the invoice is due. It can't help if you haven't invoiced yet, or if the invoice is already overdue.

## What FundTap offers

| Product | Amount | Term | Who qualifies | Security | Speed | Cost |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Invoice finance | Up to 90% of each invoice, for invoices of $300 or more; limits typically up to $300,000 | Until the invoice is due, usually within 60 days | Trading now in NZ or Australia and invoicing customers on terms for work already done; as a guide, at least 3 months of trading and more than $5,000 a month in revenue | The invoice; FundTap also runs a credit check on the business and its owners | Approval usually within a day, then each invoice paid within 2 hours | One fee per invoice from 4% (higher if you do not connect accounting software); no setup, monthly or closing fees |

## Who qualifies

FundTap checks that your business is trading now in New Zealand or Australia, that you invoice customers on terms, that the invoice is for work already done and isn't overdue, and that your accounts are in order. As a general guide, it looks for at least 3 months of trading and more than $5,000 a month in revenue. The smallest invoice it funds is $300, and limits usually go up to $300,000. It connects to Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon, but you don't have to use any of them. Most invoices it funds are due within 60 days. FundTap also runs a credit check on the business and its owners.

## What FundTap costs

FundTap charges one fee per invoice, from 4%, and shows you the fee before you confirm. The fee depends on how many days are left until the invoice is due, and it's higher if you don't connect your accounting software. There are no setup, monthly or closing fees. In FundTap's own example, it advances $4,050 on a $4,500 invoice due in 30 days and charges $235, so it collects $4,285 on the due date.

That's $235 to use $4,050 for a month, or about 5.8%. Used every month for a year, it would add up to about 70% a year, much more than a bank loan. Invoice finance is best for short gaps in cash flow.

## How FundTap compares

[ScotPac](https://smallbusinessloan.co.nz/lenders/scotpac) also offers invoice finance, advancing up to 80% of each invoice, with facilities up to $150 million. It needs 6 months of trading and at least $10,000 a month in invoices to other businesses. If you need a lump sum instead of an advance on invoices, look at [Prospa](https://smallbusinessloan.co.nz/lenders/prospa) or [Bizcap](https://smallbusinessloan.co.nz/lenders/bizcap).
