## Is Fundme a good option for your business?

Fundme suits a business that wants someone else to find the right lender, especially for an unsecured loan, an IRD bill or equipment. You fill in one enquiry, and Fundme matches you with a lender from its panel. You won't pay a broker fee upfront, but Fundme earns commission on each loan, so ask how much it is before you sign.

Fundme Limited was registered in February 2023 and is based in Prebbleton, Canterbury. Fundme says it holds a Class 3 financial advice provider licence, and it's a member of Financial Services Complaints Ltd, which offers a free dispute resolution service.

## What Fundme arranges

| Product | Amount | Term | Who qualifies | Security | Speed | Cost |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Business loans, lines of credit, tax funding and asset finance (arranged) | $2,000 to $500,000, depending on the product | Depends on the lender | Assessed on trading history, revenue and bank statements; full financial statements are not needed in most cases | No property security for unsecured products up to $150,000; asset finance is secured on the asset | Many same-day decisions; funding possible within 24 hours of approval | Set by the lender; Fundme earns commission, which may be added to the loan |

Fundme arranges five types of finance:

- unsecured business loans from $5,000 to $500,000, over up to 5 years, and smaller loans don't need property security
- lines of credit from $2,000 to $500,000 for businesses that have traded for at least 2 years, where you only pay interest on what you use
- tax and GST funding from $5,000, so you can pay an IRD bill now and spread the cost
- invoice finance, where your unpaid invoices are the security
- asset finance for trucks, machinery, equipment and commercial vehicles, with zero deposit available

## Fundme's lenders

Fundme works with 14 lenders: CFI Finance, Heartland Bank, Finance Now, Marac Finance, UDC Finance, Geneva Finance, Prospa, Financial Holdings, Open For Business, ScotPac, FlexiCommercial, Bizcap, HomeSec and Broadlands Finance. Major banks aren't included. If your business qualifies for a bank loan, compare the bank's offer too.

## Who qualifies

Fundme checks your trading history, revenue, cash flow and whether your business can afford the repayments. Fundme works from your bank statements, and in most cases it doesn't need full financial statements. Each lender has its own criteria, so the required trading history depends on the product. For lines of credit, you need at least 2 years of trading.

Fundme says its first eligibility check won't affect your credit score, and it only shares your details with a lender if you agree and approval seems likely. Many applications receive a decision the same day, and funding can happen within 24 hours of approval.

## What Fundme costs

Your rate and fees are set by the lender and depend on your trading history, credit history and how much you borrow. Fundme earns a brokerage commission when a loan settles. Depending on the lender, this commission is either added to your loan or paid in cash by you or the lender. Some products also pay Fundme a share of the interest. If someone referred you to Fundme, they may receive a referral fee from that commission.

Fundme says it will tell you the commission on your loan if you ask, and the quoted rate won't change later. Ask for the total amount you'll repay, including the commission, and check the repayments using the [business loan calculator](https://smallbusinessloan.co.nz/tools/business-loan-calculator). If the lender gives you a [factor rate](https://smallbusinessloan.co.nz/glossary/factor-rate), the [true cost calculator](https://smallbusinessloan.co.nz/tools/true-cost) turns it into an annual rate.
